Steep, south-facing, open rock slope, with small overhangs and crevices; thin mossy soil over rock, with lush cover of Bromus tectorum, Bromus commutatus, Poa stenantha, Achillea millefolium, Epilobium minutum, Clarkia pulchella, Lomatium brunsfeldianum, Sedum stenopetalum, and Selaginella wallacei. Petals maroon; flowers nodding; several patches of plants in shaded, seeping rock overhangs. Photographed. Phenology: Flowers.
