On dry sandy ground, full sun, at base of basalt cliffs, with Bromus tectorum, Achillea millefolium, Heterotheca villosa, Chondrilla juncea, Ericameria nauseosa. Arching adventive shrub 2.5 m tall, petals white to pale pink. 10-11.5 x 7-8 mm, flowers 20 mm diameter, thorns the same color as stem; uncommon.¶U.S. Army Corps Columbia River Plant Survey.
