Montane meadow of orchard grass. Associated species: Elymus cinereus, Poa pratensis, Bromus inermis, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Populus tremuloides. Common in moist areas of the meadow (dry later in season). Plts tall with strongly fistulose sts that are highly glaucous and extensive fibrous root system that is fimly attached to sts; basal lvs withering at anthesis; inflor somewhat glandular in upper part; lower and middle pedicels longer than sepals, ascending; sepals blue; petals mostly blue; follicles very densely hairy. This pop. of approx. 100 plants visited by bumblebees and hawkmoths at about 2:00 PM. Phenology: Flowers.
