Upper margin of open, sandy beach where it grades into vegetated sand above high tide line, with Ammophila breviligulata and Cakile edentula. Grain 1 per fruit, strongly swollen and covering nearly entire tepal surface; leaves thick, leathery; inflorescences dense; stems decumbent, partly to mostly buried in sand; 49 stems loosely arranged within a 1.5 meter wide patch, with two more stems seen to north (47.153068, -124.191067), both in loose sand at boundary of vegetated sand and open beach.
