Rocky road with a clay based soil. Species in the surrounding area include: Elymus elymoides, Phlox longifolia, Chaenactis douglasii, Sedum lanceolatum, Taraxacum officinale, Pseudoroegneria spicata, Artemisia arbuscula, Castilleja angustifolia, Gutierrezia sarothrae, Phlox multiflora, Lupinus, Cryptantha. Corolla blue-purplish, 10-17 mm; anthers dehiscing the full length; staminode beard of hairs longer than 0.5mm; leaves and bracts relatively narrow, the bracts mostly lanceolate or lance-obovate; plants non-glandular puberulent; leaves thick. Leaf tissue collected for DNA extraction.
