Riparian wetland dominated by Betula glandulosa, Rosa woodsii, Carex nebraskensis, Glyceria striata and Calmagrostis canadensis; on the edge of sagebrush steppe; Rocky Mountain subalpine-montane riparian shrubland; predominant Cowardin; PSS; HGM class; slope topographic. Plants with large nodal spines; leaves glaucus underneath; fruits dark blue to black; second year twigs with light grey peeling bark, exposing the dark-purplish bark below. Phenology: Flowers.
