Woodland dominated by cypresses with encroaching Doulas fir; associates include Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus sadleriana, Arctostaphylos patula, Arctostaphylos nevadensis, Heuchera michrantha and Sedum sp.; very steep slopes, rock outcrops, and cliffs; aspect north-northeast; thin, gritty soils derived from the Applegate Metasediment. Abundant in highly localized population; trees to 25 m; foilage blue-grren; bark of old trees fibrous and deeply furrowed; bark of younder trees orange an black, peeling in thin sheets; female cones silver-gray, ovoid, 1.2-2.0 cm; male cone very small, yellow green; collection type: seed, voucher, seed collected from ca. 20 individuals from across the population.
