Oregon: Wheeler County: Ochoco National Forest: Sutton Mountain. Mouth of Black Canyon, along Girds Creek Road. Black Canyon. About 100 yards wide near mouth, narrowing to a slot near head. Elev. 631 m.

Bottom of wider portion covered with loose sand and rock alluvium, with basalt walls. Upper portion with water in bottom. Main canyon bottom - Achillea millefolium, Galium multiflorum, Chaenactis douglasii, Cryptantha leucophaea in loose soil; Clematis ligusticifolia, Juniperus occidentalis on stable sides. Collected on gravelly bottom. Phenology: Flowers.
