Beaverhead Conglomerate substrate; rock outcrops on ridge and adjacent slopes where bedrock is near the surface; assoc. with Lupinus atenteus, Erigeron compositus, Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus, Astragalus kentrophyta, Phlox pulvinata. Locally common on outcrops, widely scattered on slopes; flowers bright yellow, shrub to 2 dm. Phenology: Flowers.
