Sagebrush steppe. Species occurs in flat areas and depressions and is less common on the rocky outcrops. Associated species: Artemisia tripartita ssp. tripartita, Poa secunda, Elymus spicata. Short shrub. Long deeply divided gray leaves, narrowly cuneate. Leaf divisions about 1.2 blade length. Phenology: Flowers.
