50% of stand has trees that are very early seral and there are a number of >30 year old P. ponderosa and lodgepole pine evenly distributed throughout the plot. Bittersweet shrub dominates the ground cover. The soil is very dry and sandy and there is a small slope to the SW side of the plot (lava flow). The most abundant lichen is K. merrellii and following in abundance is L. columbiana and L. vulpina. Slope 5%. Aspect 140°. Abundance code: 4-1. Substrate: PIPO br.
