Coniferous forest with Hemlock. Mostly soil area. On black pitch over bark of Hemlock tree, trail side, lower end of lake. Substrate: Black pitch over bark Hemlock tree. Apothecia 1.6 millimeters, stalk and head dark, spores ellipsoid (1 septate?), 14 to 16 (19). K makes head and edge of stalk orange brownish from black. Substrate: corticolous.
