Common on rocky ground in partial shade of lodgepole pine and fir trees, associated with Penstemon fruticosus, Castilleja viscidula, Silene oregana, Eremogone capillaris, Eriogonum flavum, Phlox diffusa, and Sitanion hystrix. Plants mostly in fruit, forming mats 1 to 2 meters across. Phenology: Flowers & Fruits.
