The lake is allegedly spring fed; supposedly it was once used as an ice pond by the RR for refrig. cars. The pond is almost full of Nymphaea odorata (allegedly planted ca. 35 yrs. ago). Other common aquatics include: Utricularia vulgaris, Chara sp ., Nitella sp., Potamogeton natans, P. pectinatus, Lemna trisulca, Ceratophyllum demersum, Lemna minor, with marginal plants of Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum. This water lily propagates readily by vegetative and sexual means here. A beautiful sight in July. Phenology: Flowers.
