Top of knoll and west-southwest facing slopes of ridge on volcanic bedrock and rock rubble. Cushion plant-bunchgrass community on windward side of ridge (taller and denser meadow community on leeward side). Rock cover 60-75%, veg cover 30-40%, Cushion plant community dominated by Draba densifolia, Phlox solivaga, Astragalus whitneyi, Eremogone congesta, Sedum stenopetalum, and Poa secunda. Common, especially on lee slopes. With Phlox multiflora, Phlox solivaga, Phoenicaulis cheiranthoides
