Oregon: Malheur County: Juniper Gulch, off Leslie Gulch: Leslie Gulch ACEC. On a ridge between Juniper Gulch and the adjacent drainage to the east, 1.14 air-km NNE (heading 186º) from the Juniper Gulch Trailhead pull-off. Elev. 3710-3740 ft.

Dry ridge between two drainages; open, sandy-gravelly brown-ash tuff barren. Cover very sparse, mostly of scattered Monardella angustifolia and Eriogonum sp. subshrubs, with occasional stunted Purshia tridentata and Cercocarpus. Highly aromatic. Previous years' inflorescences show signs of branching. Note fascicled leaves beginning to develop.¶Part of a significant population -- at least 200 individuals -- not previously known from this far up Juniper Gulch. A few of these appear to be hosts for a Castilleja sp. -- see A. C. DiNicola 2015-2. Phenology: Vegetative.
