Canyon bottom riparian zone among sagebrush desert, with patches of deciduous trees. This appears to be the downstream limit of the population; upstream limit is along Newell Road at abandoned house at spring, where presumed parent trees are located. Leaves glabrous below except for tufts of hairs in lower vein axils; fruit subglobose, ca 4 cm diameter; nut subglobose, ca 2.5 cm diameter, surface nearly smooth but weakly longitudinally-grooved. Phenology: Fruits.
