Oregon: Josephine County: Onion Mt., Siskiyou Forest. Elev. 4200 ft.
Gentle SW slope; gravelly dry loam; type: 5 Br. 9/10 density, area not grazed; full sunlight; with Arctostaphylos manzanita and other shurbs, 1229. Huckleberry oak; ?occurs in extensive brush areas at medium to high elevation on the Siskiyou Forest in assoc. with tanbark, oak, manzanita, chinquapin, etc. on dry exposure; in this Quercus chrysolepis?; considered good browse though not observed by collector to be grazed; acorns nearly mature Sept. 8; spec. from low root. FS #35,148. Phenology: fruits.
