Dry, compacted gravelly soil of campsite parking areas, with Trifolium cernuum, T. glomeratum, T. retusum, T. subterraneum, T. repens, Stellaria pallida, Poa annua. Small cespitose annuals, with heads forming a crowded cushion against ground surface at summit of taproot, elongate stems absent; leaves erect, overtopping heads; calyx lobes lanceolate, outwardly curved; corolla whitish, hidden within calyx; locally common weed in compacted gravel.
