All rooted in cut bank, mostly in area shaded by surrounding trees, but with extra light from opening for road, northwest end in nearly full sun. Associated species, all rooted within 3 feet of where Lathyrus stalks are rooted: Sambucus (nigra ssp.) cerulea (a colony in this area, but otherwise rare in greater metropolitan Seattle area where this site is); Hedera helix; Rubus ursinus; Agrostis sp. (capillaris?); Dactylis glomerata; Polystichum munitum; Oemleria cerasiformis; Bromus vulgaris; Corylus cornuta; Daphne laureola; Vicia tetrasperma; Arrhenatherum elatius; Pteridium aquilinum; Geranium robertianum; Prosartes/Disporum hookeri; Hieracium albiflorum; Rubus parviflorus; Galium aparine; Convolvulus silvaticus; Alopecurus pratensis; Taraxacum officinale; Lapsana communis; Mycelis muralis; Eurynchium/Kindbergia praelonga (moss). Colony (potentially all one clone with one root system) about 300 feet long. Later fresh blooms to first ripe pods. Some measurements from fresh material: Calyx: 10 millimeters (mm), base of calyx to end of lower tooth. Tube: 5mm. Banner: blade 10mm, claw 10mm. Blade with purple lines, stronger on inside, otherwise ochre/buff colored. Flower 16mm total length, base of calyx to keel tip. 17 flowers per stalk. Phenology: Flowers and Fruits.
