Pine-grass woodland: Pinus ponderosa/Agropyron spicatum habitat, with Purshia tridentata, Poa secunda, Bromus tectorum, Eriogonum heracleoides, Lomatium macrocarpum, Balsamorhiza sagittata. Hillside meadow (slight slope). Land use: Wildlife/botany research, recreation. Historically grazed, but not recently. Gneiss/quartzite/granite complex. Ardenmont coarse sandy loam. Slope 15-45%. Aspect south, southwest, west, northwest. Soil color: 10 Y/R 5/4. Forb. Seeds collected from plants. Pinnately compound leaves and several thin erect stems. Brownish seed ponds hang from erect stems. Flowers are yellowish or cream colored and line each stem one-by-one from bottom to top. Plant height: 1-1.5 feet. Approximately 750 plants found; area sampled 5 acres. Phenology: Flowers & Fruits.
