Idaho: Bannock County: Scout Mountain. Mink Creek Nordic Area Trail system, W of East Fork Mink Creek Road. Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Along trails from lower parking gate at creek to upper trails along ridge. Elev. 5700 ft.

In patches along trails; disturbed areas. Predominantly Aspen forest with chokecherry and hawthorne, scattered Douglas Fir and Ponderosa Pine. Sagebrush and Bitterbrush with snowberry common at higher, more open sites. Flowers >15mm, purple, turning darker with age. Calyx teeth linear-narrowly lanceolate, slightly < tube length, with black ~straight hairs. Ovary with soft, thick hairs along margins. Leaves almost glabrous, with strigose hairs along lower midrib and margins (unlike most A. cibarius). Leaf pubescence more resembles A. lentiginosus, otherwise plant keys to A. cibarius. Full bloom. Common.
