And 2.3 air mi. SW of Penney Peak.¶ Barren hills and ridges of light pinkish, almost white, limestone derived clayey-silt soils with rock fragments. Community of matformers and suffructescent plants including Astragalus, Arenaria, Machaeranthera, Hymenoxys and Agropyron. Petals yellow; inflorescences ascending to erct from margins of rosette; infructescences prostrate to decumbent with age in larger individuals. Rare on S-facing slope and ridgetop.
