Idaho: Benewah County: 2 to 6 miles southeast of Fernwood, south of Highway 3 in the Saint Maries floodplain (highly disturbed by placer mining for garnet extraction operations).

Growing in large patches (greater than 80% cover) in open, rough, recently reclaimed placer mined area (either compacted or gravelly sandy loams); shallow depressions, saturated to shallowly inundated early spring, drying completely by late June/July. Specimens lack accrescent calyx (the lobes leaning toward one side). Decumbent annual, nutlets roughened (somewhat tuberculate), flowers white, sepals hirsute with uncinate bristles.
