(1.9 mi. from Hwy 36), go W on N Canyon Rd. past Mill Hollow Rd. At 4.7 mi. from Hwy 36 turn N at Meadow Creek (FR 425). Stop along Meadow Creek, 0.3 mi. N of North Canyon Rd. (5.0 from start). Site SP#1. Elev. 2175 m.

Mixed conifer forest of subalpine fir, Douglas fir, lodgepole pine,and aspen mixed with Artemisia tridentata ssp. vaseyana and snowberry. Substrate sloping. Herbage mostly glabrous; fibrous roots from short rhizome; leaves basally disposed, basal lvs petiolate, mostly elliptic to subrotund, coarsely crenate to shallowly lobulate, cauline lvs few, reduced, alternate, somewhat pinnatilobate; heads erect, 5-7, corolla yellow.
